WE WANT YOU to join the ISA

Hi, Hola, Czesc, Ni Hao, Jambo...

I wish I could greet each of you in your own native language. D I V E R S I T Y is an important value for all the Scotties. We love sharing our cultures. This is why today I would like to introduce you to the International Students Association (ISA).

First country's presentation of the year: International Express to Belarus by Masha Pekar (photo credit goes to Ginger Massey)
ISA is an organization that brings together international and domestic students who have the same passion for exploring the differences and similarities between their backgrounds.

This month ISA collaborated with a group Latinas Unidas and helped them organize Salsa Night. On the picture: Salsa instructor teaches some great moves to the Scotties.
To give you a better idea about ISA I asked some people what do they like the most about it:
"The annual Fashion Show is my absolute favorite. I like it because of the artistic aspect of it when admiring all the presented fabrics. It represents the diversity at Agnes Scott." Fatima Abdirizak (President of ISA)
"I enjoy the International Express presentations. They are a way to explore another country while sitting in one room." Mahider Mekonnen (Vice President of ISA)
"The diversity of people that it brings together." Emaline Laney (member of ISA)

We like to have fun and play games.
Some events that will take place this semester are:
- International Express to Brazil
- International Express to Europe: " Europe Beyond Boarders"
- International Express to Sudan
- Fashion Show
- Tea Time Discussions: "Weddings around the world"

You should expect to hear more about ISA in the future entries. This introduction hopefully shows that upon coming to a different country and a new school, we welcome you to our family. All of the fellow international as well as the American Scotties are looking forward to learn about you and your culture.

Atlanta Hungarian Festival took place at Agnes Scott last weekend and was supported by the ISA. On the picture: Fatima Abdirizak (President of ISA) admiring Hungarian arts and crafts.
The first picture is from the Fashion Show that took place last year and the credits go the administrators of our facebook page. Thank you for visiting my blog this time. Please, be on the lookout for the next post. It will talk about one of the most important traditions at Agnes Scott- the Black Cat week. Black Cat Formal, Date Raffle, Trivia, Field Day, decorations and much more.
See you soon!
